Damascene copper plating for coils in thin film heads.
An optimized plating bath composition suitable for plating coil structures in thin film magnetic heads with bath composition based on Shipley High Acid Damascene copper electroplating baths containing A-2001 accelerator and S-2001 suppressor components.
Dana keeps zinc plating under control
Case study of US Dana Group with newly installed zinc line (mainly barrel) with notes & photos of computer control system running on PC and also description of effluent treatment plant & procedures
Dangerous Drying Explained
Letter responding to item in December 1995 issue (p.942) in which an explosion of 1,1,1-trichloroethane was reported, after it had been dried by standing over molecular sieve. Explantion suggested involves partial dehydrochlorination to form vinylidene chloride which then reacted with oxygen in air to form a polymeric peroxide. This, on drying to a solid was heat- and shock-sensitive.
Dangerous Substances Regulations in Germany & Implications for Printed Circuit Board Manufacture
Comment on new legislation (in theory and practice) and its implications for p.c.b manufacturers.
Dangers of Single Point Calibration for Electronic Thickness Testing Gauges
Study of accuracy of electronic thickness testers shows that single point calibration, i.e using just one thickness standard, can lead to appreciable errors. Graphs show this. 3 refs (of thickness testing standards).
Dangling bond induced cross-linking model in nanoscratched graphene layers.
Danieli Wean United turbo flow pickling technology
Replacement of cold-rolled by hot-rolled strip demands high pickling standards, both quality & speed, which title process claims to provide. Sketch shows descaling model according to Frisch & Thiele. Photos & sketches show plant, table compares performance (7 parameters) of deep & shallow tanks, turbulent & turbo flow pickling lines. Tank entry, transition & tensioning arrangements are sketched. Graph shows pickling times.
Danish centrally controlled disposal system for dangerous chemical wastes
Danish system of waste disposal, based on central collection points for industrial and domestic wastes, is discussed, together with procedures employed at state-run central disposal plant for segregation, regeneration or disposal to landfill of selected wastes.
Danish pipe blasted by silicon chips
Use of abrasive cleaning machine for pipes at Tjaerekompagniet Roer, Erritso, Denmark is described.
Dark coating with low solar infrared absorbing properties
Exterior grey paint mixture having low solar absorptance and low luminous reflectance, comprises titania 3-24, zinc oxide 0-17, fibrous MgAl silicate 11-15, alkyd resin 40-57, Sb trisulphide 1-20, drier (metallic naphthenate) 0.7, thinner (mineral spirit base) 15-21 %.
Dark colour on aluminium
Al (alloy) is anodised in soln. containing 2-hydroxy-3-sulpho-malonic acid, HOOC(H)CH-C(SO3H)HCOOH 0.5-70% wt. opt. with H2 SO4, oxalic acid, CrO3, p-phenol sulphonic acid, etc., at 50-70 V, dc, 1-2 A/dm*2 for up to 15 min., to obtain deep coloured finish.
Dark or black alloy containing 1 - 15% tin, 19 - 60% copper and 30 - 80% bismuth, electrodeposition of this. and use thereof.
Dark metallic finishes for automobile interiors
The latest trend in automotive interior design calls for dark, chromium-based coatings, e.g. for gear levers etc. General comments summarise the range of options for black coatings with their advantages and shortcomings. In the new process, a coating plant is shown where, after cleaning, components are plasma coated to form an amorphous DLC coating with hardness typically 2000 HV. This can be deposited over any black chromium surface to impart scratch resistant and hard wearing surfaces . The plasma coating is in fact two stage, the first being low-pressure inert gas, the second stage using a hydrocarbon gas.
Dark, wave-length selective oxide film on aluminium
Dark coloured wave-length selective oxide film is obtained on Al by treatment in soln. containing NH4Cl 1-100 g/l, at 20-100°C, pH 8.9-10.9, for up to 45 min., while subjecting to potential of -1.1 to -0.6 vs saturated calomel electrode.
