Image Conversion Method of Corrosion Evaluation.

Relevancy:

A visual method is presented for the automatic evaluation of the degree of corrosion of the surface of an object. The measurement model is provided controlled rate.

Image evaluation with chemometric strategies for quality control of paints.

Relevancy:

A complementary analytical methodology for the evaluation of paint quality was developed. Four different primers applied to steel substrates and submitted to accelerated laboratory and outdoor exposure tests were taken into account. Digitalised images were obtained from these samples using a conventional scanner. The images were converted into grey colour scale histograms, the resulting data were organised into a matrix form and were analysed with the help of principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). It was possible to identify the best primers performance avoiding subjective interpretation.

Image forming surface for decorate aluminium plate

Relevancy:

Before ink-jet recording, image forming surface comprising anodic oxide layer of Al (alloy) is dried and activated. Recording is followed by treatment to remove solvent and dye.

Image problem ? A new role for SME Jobbing coaters

Relevancy:

Suggests that Metal Finishers have and must move beyond the stage where the automotive industry treats them as no more than an extension of their workshops, and that such jobbers should be willing to solve customer-specific problems. Also discussed, a new incentive scheme where prizes are awarded to jobbing coaters who integrate efficient production with environmental best practice.

Image Processing and Statistical Analysis of Microstructures of as Plasma Sprayed Alumina-13 wt.% Titania Coatings.

Relevancy:

Image processing for the optimisation of dynamic range in photomicrography.

Relevancy:

Various software solutions are described with special regard to microscopical applications and compared with each other. Results of testing the software are discussed. It is noted that dynamic range increase and high dynamic range rendering are both suitable techniques for improving the image quality in photomicrographs, especially with specimens or illumination modes that are associated with a large variation in object brightness. To achieve this, the specimen has to be photographed at different exposures, and the respective image stack has to be superimposed and rendered by particular software. The resulting image reconstruction is free from and visible over- or under-exposed zones.

Image processing techniques applications to ship painting analysis

Relevancy:

Procedure is presented for evaluation of painted steel plates, after some period of rusting, with Japanese and Brazilian paints exposed to marine environment. For consideration of real surface condition many grades of rusting for each type of paint were obtained. To measure level of corrosion, method of image processing was applied in comparison with ASTM and NK standards. All results, as well as methodology for evaluation, may be used as parameters for maintenance of ships hulls and off shore structure surfaces.

Image transfer - a key technology in printed circuit board processing

Relevancy:

Typical specifications (pitch, trackwidth etc) for pcb's today and in the years 2000-2010 are set out. Dry film resist approach is discussed (thick preferred) and liquid resists (thin preferred). ED (electrophoretic or electrodeposited) are a third option. Discussion of phototools with photos showing examples. Comments on AOI, laser direct imageing (LDI), illumination. 6 refs

Imaging of Cracks & Pores in CVD Coatings by Electrographic Printing

Relevancy:

Thin CVD films of titanium carbide, nitride, alumina, hafnium carbide were subjected to electrographic printing which successfully revealed cracks & pores. Electrography is found to be more convenient than SEM for detection of cracks down to 1 micron. 17 refs.
