JS 2000 rinsing & sealing process; a corrosion protection for mixed metals

Relevancy:

To minimise corrosion by galvanic couple formation at dissimilar metals (esp. magnesium alloys in automotive construction) title process is based on silicate impregnation, with hexavalent chromium being leached out. Standard tests to assess this situation are listed & weight loss data after 21 days for Mg is reported using various protective systems. Reaction mechanism, as part of which the JS 2000 reacts chemically with Cr(VI) is set out. Photos show its beneficial effects. TEM shows surface close-up. Use of JS-2050 L for screws threaded into Mg alloys to provide lubrication & insulation, is noted, outcome of test using DIN 946 for threaded fasteners is shown. 4 refs

Judgment and handling of defective products in electroplating of aluminium wheel hub.

Relevancy:

Stripping accounts for a large part in the defective products of electroplated aluminium wheel hubs. The definition, characteristics, commonly-appeared position, and control process of defective wheel hub to be stripped were analyzed. The judging methods of defective products, as well as some prevention and remedial measures were pointed out. A suggestion was given that the production process should be strictly controlled to reduce the stripping rate.

Judicial finding: Report of a German Court Case

Relevancy:

Note reports legal finding of German Court where metal finisher took delivery of a plant which fell far short of specified output performance. Attempts to correct this proved fruitless. The customer then installed another plant from a competitor and sought damages. Defence plea that case was out of time was set aside and damages were awarded.
