Joining a Large Brass Ring to Stainless Steel with the Aid of Electroplating

Relevancy:  

A difficult joining problem was addressed by plating solder onto the mating faces & then heating. Resulting adhesion was good though porosity meant that the join was not gas-tight. The details of the technique are given. A halogen-free flux was used to avoid intergranular corrosion. Earlier attempts based on brush plating gave poor adhesion.

Joining Beryllium by Plating
