Paint and Varnishes - List of Equivalent Terms

Relevancy:

.

Paint and varnishes: examination and preparation of test samples.

Relevancy:

Paint application - new robots, new methods

Relevancy:

New atomiser design and faster robots allow a re-think of the automotive painting process. Fewer atomisers per paint station, working at a faster rate, moving to precisely follow the contours of the bodyshell, minimising overspray and paint loss during colour change over, and shortening cycle times. Sketch shows new spray bells, process control is explained and the 6-atomiser concept detailed with comments on colour changeover.

Paint application methods

Relevancy:

Overview of various application methods with focus on VOC emissions from volatile solvents. dipping, flooding, spraying are among techniques covered. Also discusses spray guns & their paint supply.

Paint application technologies - from paint spray device to PC controlled automatic

Relevancy:

Summary of talk given at European Coatings Show, Nueremberg 1997 describes use of PC in title paint spray application.

Paint application- shooting for efficiency

Relevancy:

Reviews current status of air airless, air-assisted airless spray guns and rotary disks and bells.

Paint applicator

Relevancy:

Paint applicator comprises roller journalled in body for rotation about longitudinal axis of roller. Body has paint supply input and cover with walls whose lips abut roller application surface.

Paint applicator mounted on paint roller

Relevancy:

.

Paint applicator with extensible handle

Paint bake response of aluminium alloy 6016

Relevancy:

Title alloy, which contains magnesium & silicon as minor constituents, is increasingly used for automotive body panels. The effect of heat treatment is reported, these alloys being heat-treatable for mechanical reasons & also as result of paint curing. Graph shows hardness vs. ageing time at 185° and 205°C, and hardness increase during paint bake cycle. Table lists tensile strengths before and after paint bake (1 week ageing). Effect of rest period at room temperature between heat treatment & paint baking cycles is shown. 11 refs

Paint base coating

Relevancy:

Aluminium is coated by contacting with composition comprising aq. soln. at pH 9-12.5 and containing complexing agent with N atom(s) with lone pair(s) of electrons, carboxylate group and oxidising agent free of components which inhibit coating formation, to form paint base coating at least 0.5 g/m*2 thick, then applying siccative coating.

Paint bonding coating

Relevancy:

Steel is cathodically treated in soln. of CrO3 or (di)chromate, rinsed and treated ultrasonically at 65-100°C in soln. of alkali.

Paint bonding process for steel

Relevancy:

Steel sheet is immersed in soln. of Na2SO4 0.5-2 M at pH 6-8, 20-100°C using PR current for 0.1-30 s, 1-50 A/dm*2, to give improved paint adhesion.

Paint booth air supply filtration

Relevancy:

Discusses standards of air quality, types of filter required & why such air quality is called for. Sketches & comments show good airflow patterns in terms of booth design & means of obtaining uniform airflow.

Paint booth air supply filtration

Relevancy:

Various filters and their purpose are discussed and airflow patterns sketched, turbulence esp. close to work being painted is highly undesirable, and laminar flow is the aim.
